SGB tops Southwest Ga. Insurance

MOULTRIE — Southwest Georgia Bank broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the top of the sixth inning and held on for a 5-2 Midget League victory over Southwest Georgia Insurance on Tuesday at the Magnolia Sports Complex.
Skyler Lindsey pitched a complete game for Southwest Georgia Bank to help deal Southwest Georgia Insurance its first loss of the season.
Both teams scored two runs in the second inning and the score remained tied until the sixth.
Daryl Williamson led Southwest Georgia Bank with two hits.
Vann Pitts pitched a complete game for Southwest Georgia Insurance.
Harper-McCall, which faces Southwest Georgia Insurance on Friday, is now the only unbeaten team in the Midget League.
In Tuesday’s other Midget League game, Edwards Motors defeated Davis Insurance 9-7.
Mitchell Hawes went the distance and got the win. Josh West had two hits and Cody Parker and Tyler Shaw each had two for Edwards Motors, now 3-4.
Dustin McAlpin, Daren Kent and Alex Littleton each had two hits for Davis Insurance, also 3-4.
In Tuesday’s Farm League action, Ameris won its first game of the season, defeating Random Design 8-3.
Garrett May, Hudson May and Will Roberts each had three hits and Elijah Gomez and Andrew Newton had two for Ameris, now 1-6.
Caleb Jarosh, Steven Vick and Cody Jenkins each had two hits for Random Design, 0-7.
Southwest Georgia Bank held on to a share of first place in the Farm League with its 16-6 victory over Rocky’s on Tuesday.
Ben Shiflett went 4-for-4; Cason Wells, Colby Reneker and Warren Funderburk each had three hits; and Daniel Mobley, Quint Pitts, Samuel Smith, Taylor Duke and Charlie Zeanah each had two for Southwest Georgia Bank, now 6-2.
Tyler Pifer, Hunter Lott, Tony Simpson, Parker Hoes and Nick Harper each had two for Rocky’s, now 2-5.
In Tuesday’s other Farm League game, Custom Cabinet defeated Farm Bureau 12-7.
Blake Lee, Oshay Williams, Matthew Wilkerson, Ryan Chatman, Adam Merritt, Cole Bryant, William Bell and Shawn Bonner each had two hits for Custom Cabinets, now 4-3.
Hart Sumner went 4-for-4; Brandon Chafin, Jay Tolbert, Nick Nichols and McKenzie Blanchett each had three hits; and Wade Hawes, Jared Howard and Braxton Jones each had two for Farm Bureau, 3-4.
