- Running back/receiver Ja'Mari Stokes (7) and center Matthew Dillon (67) will help lead Colquitt County into its Region 1-6A opener against Lowndes on Friday in The Hawg Pen.
MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County football team will be home on Friday night to play Lowndes in a game originally scheduled for last Friday that was postponed because of Hurricane Helene.
Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. on Tom White Field at Mack Tharpe Stadium.

It will be the Region 1-6A opener for both teams.
The other two region games scheduled for last Friday – Tift County at Richmond Hill and Camden County at Valdosta – also were postponed and will be played this Friday.
The first three weeks of the region games will be moved back a week because of last Friday’s postponements.
The new schedule will be:
• Friday, October 4: Lowndes at Colquitt County, Tift County at Richmond Hill and Camden County at Valdosta.
• Friday, October 11: Colquitt County at Valdosta, Lowndes at Tift County and Richmond Hill at Camden County.

• Friday, November 1: Richmond Hill at Colquitt County, Tift County at Camden County and Valdosta at Lowndes.
Colquitt County coach Sean Calhoun said there was some thought given to moving all three of last Friday’s region games to October 18, which originally was an open date for all six region teams.
But keeping the same schedule allows teams to play the opponents they had already been practicing for and preparing to meet.
Tickets issued for the Lowndes-Colquitt County game will be good for the rescheduled game.
But because of the devastation in Valdosta caused by the hurricane, there is no assurance that Lowndes will be prepared to play on Friday, Calhoun said.
If the Vikings cannot be ready by Friday, the game would be played on Saturday, he said.
It is unsure what the effects of the hurricane will be on the Lowndes and Valdosta football teams.
Both are 5-0 heading into the their region openers.
Despite being unbeaten, Lowndes will be unranked when its comes to Moultrie.
“I’d put them in the top 10,” Calhoun said. “They have big-play dudes who can take it the distance when they get the ball in their hands.
“And defensively, they do a good job of creating turnovers and sacks.”
The Packers will take a 3-2 record into the 59th meeting between the two programs.
Colquitt opened with wins over West of Utah and Monroe, but fell to North Gwinnett and Lee County – both top-3 three teams – before winning their last game 44-13 over Rickards High of Tallahassee on September 20.
