Veterans group to hold annual breakfast

MOULTRIE — A free Veterans Breakfast will be held starting at 8 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Charlie A. Gray Jr. High School.

All veterans and their families are welcome to attend the event, which is sponsored by the South Georgia Veterans Activities Committee and The First Bank.

The program will start at 9 a.m. with Casey King as the guest singer and Lt. Col. Jason Perdew, the advisor of the Colquitt County High School JROTC.

Perdew, originally from Fort Dodge, Ind., retired after 28 years of service in the United States Marine Corps and became certified as an ROTC instructor through the Marine Corps. His first job was the the M.C. Perry High School at the Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan. He took over the Colquitt County High School JROTC program in 2021 after Lt. Col. Paul Nagy retired.

Perdew and his wife, Jessica, have five children, William, Ashley, Abigail, Ethan and Andrew.

The annual Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 10, at the amphitheater on the courthouse square. It will include Stacey Dross as the guest singer. The Rev. Richard Wright, commander of American Legion Post 324 and pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will be the guest speaker. Wreaths will be placed in memory of the fallen soldiers of Colquitt County.
