The units will replace Thomasville Police Department vehicles purchased in 2010 and 2011.
The purchase includes five Ford police interceptor utility/SUVs and one Ford F-150 police model.
The units will be purchased from Wade Ford on a state contract that guarantees the purchase price.
The expenditure approved is for vehicles only. Emergency equipment accessorizing will be a separate expense, according to information provided by city council.
Thomas County commissioners approved spending a total of $880,124.98 to purchase vehicles and associated equipment for county agencies, including animal control, sheriff’s office, public works, facilities management, narcotics/vice and fleet services.
“The bidding was done through a proper bidding process,” said commission Chairman Wiley Grady.
