MOULTRIE — The Bainbridge 10-and-under boys all-star team knocked off two pretty good ball clubs — Colquitt County B and Thomasville — on Thursday to reach the District III tournament championship game on Friday in Leesburg.
And while it was able to keep Colquitt County Gold in sight in the championship game, Bainbridge could not stop the rolling Moultrie A all-stars.
Colquitt County used a seven-run fifth inning to propel itself to a 13-4 victory and the District III championship.
Gold will represent the District in the 10-and-under machine pitch state tournament, which will be held July 19-22 in Vidalia.
Colquitt County’s 10-and-under girls all-star team also will be heading to the state tournament after finishing second in the District III tournament in Tifton.
District III was allowed to send two teams to the state 10-and-under girls tournament, which also will be held in Tifton, July 20-22.
Colquitt County 10-and-under boys ripped through the District tournament, averaging 14 runs a game.
Gold defeated Worth County 16-3, the Americus Jets 15-1 and Thomasville 12-7 before taking the District championship in convincing fashion over Bainbridge.
Mack Hathcock led Colquitt County offensively, going 3-for-4 in the championship game.
Eric Gould and Drew Penuel each had two hits and John Gray, Daniel Mobley, Jonah Bozeman, Cason Wells and Tony Simpson each had one hit.
The rest of the Colquitt County roster includes Preston Berry, Oshay Williams, Alex Pate, Gabe Mobley, Eli Stripling and Dontae Barfield.
Joey Hathcock and Warren Bozeman are the team’s coaches.

Colquitt County returned to Tifton on Friday to play in the losers bracket and defeated Crisp County 11-1 in its first game.
Ainsley Davis led the Colquitt County offense with three hits.
Cheyenne Sumner, Taylor Owens, Hannah Sprayberry, Tremyia Robinson and Shelby Rakestraw each had two hits.
Ashleigh Childs, Tara Reynolds and Cheyenne Tillman each had one hit.
Rakestraw had two doubles. Sprayberry and Cheyenne Tillman each had one two-bagger.
In the championship game, Colquitt County again fell to Lee County, losing 14-12.
“They have a good hitting team,” Colquitt County coach Angie Davis said of Lee County.
Owens, Davis, Sprayberry and Rakestraw each had three hits against Lee County.
Sumner and Maiya Thompson had two hits and Robinson, Whitney Tillman, Kasie Ricks and Cheyenne Tillman each had one.
Davis and Rakestraw had triples. Rakestraw also had a double.

“We just need to cut out the big inning when we kick the ball around,” she said.
