MOULTRIE — The Colquitt 12-and-under and 10-and-under all-star B teams won the Georgia Recreation and Parks Associations tournament openers on Monday.
But the 12-and-under A team all-stars will have to advance in the sub-District III tournament the hard way after dropping its opener.
At Remington Park in Thomasville, the Colquitt A team was paired with the Thomaville A team in a sub-District opener and managed just one hit in a 12-4 loss.
Megan May had the only hit for Colquitt County A, which must wait until 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to play its first losers bracket game.
Moultrie Silver, the 12-and-under B team, got solid pitching from Andrew Eunice and banged out nine hits in its 11-0 opening-round victory over Grady County.
Eunice went all five innings, giving up just three hits and striking out eight.
Andrew Carlton led the Silver offense with three hits. Tyroni Walker added two and Daren Kent, Aubrey McCarty, Clayton Brown and Cody Carr each had one hit.
Silver will back in action at 7:30 tonight against the winner of the Bainbridge-Thomasville B game.
The championship game of the double-elimination tournament is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday.
The tournament winner will advance to play the other sub-District winner in a three-game series next week in Thomasville to determine the District III champion.
The District III machine-pitch 10-and-under tournament in Leesburg got under way with a rain delay, but the weather did not keep the Colquitt County B team from romping to a 17-10 victory over Crisp County.
Ross Goforth and Cole Bryant led the Colquitt County hit parade with four hits each.
Andy Bush, Tristin Frazier and Ryan Chatman each had three. And Blake Lee, Austin Mercer, Dalton Dillon, Hunter Lott and Beau Dalton had two hits each.
Colquitt County B will advance to meet Bainbridge at 6 tonight in a second-round game. Colquitt County A will open District III play at 6 tonight against the winner of Monday’s Sylvester-Thomasville game.
The championship game of the 13-team double-elimination tournament is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday.
