TIFTON — Veterans Day on Nov. 11 will see several activities to honor local veterans.
There will be a ceremony at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, located in downtown Tifton between Main Street and Central Avenue at First Street.

After the ceremony, attendees will be privy to a sneak peek at the veterans exhibit located next to the Tifton Terminal Railroad Museum.
The exhibit will feature a section with general information about the nation’s armed conflicts with artifacts donated from members of the community.
Chris Parrott, who has been working on the exhibit, said that the exhibit’s “claim to fame” will be the local heroes gallery.
This gallery will feature pictures and names of Tift County veterans reaching all the way back to the Civil War.
Parrott said that it has taken some time and work to get everything to come together.
“We had to come in and do bold remediation, redo the bathrooms, do a lot of infrastructure work to get it to where we could start doing exhibits,” he said.

Work on the exhibits began about two years ago and will tie in to the outdoor veterans memorial.
The exhibit is not complete, but Parrott said they want to take the opportunity on Veterans Day to give a sneak peek until they are ready to open.
Jamie Cater, who has also been working on getting the exhibit up and running, said that Parrott has been very dedicated to it.
“Our business, CaterParrott Railnet, has funded a good bit of stuff, but it’s been Chris down there making it happen,” Cater said.
The sneak peek of the exhibit will take place after the ceremony, from noon until 2 p.m.
