MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County boys defeated Valdosta by two points in a hard-fought game last month on the William Bryant Court.
But the Packers could not contain the Wildcats over the final three quarters on Tuesday at Valdosta and fell 74-54.
The result further scrambles the race for one of the top two seeds in next week’s Region 1-6A tournament.
The Packers, who won their first four region games, finish at 6-4.
But with Tift County playing host to Camden County on Friday and Valdosta on Saturday and Lowndes traveling to Richmond Hill and Camden County those same two days, there are a number of scenarios that could play out.
Valdosta never gave Colquitt County a chance on Tuesday, leading by 11 at the half and extending the lead to 19 at the end of third quarter.
The Packers scored just nine points in the second quarter and never recovered.
Cason Harden led the Packers with 16 points, including 12 on four 3-pointers.
Kanilyn Jones added 11.
Marcus Moore had seven; Ja’Shar Kinsey chipped in five; JaKari Byrd and Alexis Barge each had four; and Zhi Alridge added a first-quarter basket.
Four Valdosta players scored in double-digits, led by Braylen Deas, who had 18. Brandon Brown had 17.
