Martinez indicted on manslaughter charges

MAYO, Fla. — Pedro Martinez was indicted on armed manslaughter and fleeing and eluding charges by a grand jury Monday.

Martinez, 31, of Mayo, allegedly stabbed Mayo resident Fermin Bueno, a 61-year-old Hispanic male at his residence on Main Street on July 31.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, the Lafayette County EMS treated Bueno for a single stab wound to the chest and transported him to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

According to the report, deputies were able to gather information on the suspect including a vehicle description and tag number.

The report states, following a pursuit, deputies made a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description and tag number.

At the time Martinez was placed under arrest for fleeing and eluding and no valid driver’s license while the Sheriff’s Office awaited a decision on homicide charges from the State Attorney’s Office.
