Rants and Raves

Lack of leadership: “Trump would cut medical research to build a wall on the border? Talk about a lack of leadership abilities. Enter the clown!

Show up

“I would like to see all of those people who talk about education in this column to show up at a school board meeting.

Educational?

“Ain’t it great to hear about these schools traveling around Georgia or going to Washington? I wish my grandchild could but our only choice is to go to some park in Orlando. How is that educational? Thanks Cox school principals!

GEAR

“I well know the demographics of GEAR, but I’d love for you to tell John Q. Public! Of course, they have a small percentage of low-socioeconomic students. You can’t help that in this poor county, and they also have a splattering of blacks and Hispanics, but the ratio compared to elite whites is huge!

Chain of command

“This isn’t a socialist country! Janitors and paraprofessionals have their job duties and they don’t include the same duties as a teacher. Teachers hold degrees and certifications for a reason! Likewise, teachers can’t perform some of the principals duties either. The superintendent has a chain of command and it should be followed!

The choir trip

“I don’t think the choir should go that far from their school. What is the insurance on these children and did everybody get to go. Looks like a vacation for some. Like the children that went to Washington D.C. not everyone got to go.

Be special

“It’s ok if a male teacher doesn’t wear a tie? You spent some time to train to be an educator, but you shouldn’t dress like a grocery store bag boy. Be something special.

Observation

“I’ve observed that student mentors are primarily white and that any extra curricular events are because our staff are willing to do the work. Where are our parents and where is the African American community? We need you to play your part and make our school better. Mrs. Hill, board member, where is your leadership on this?

Great idea

“Bravo to the rant about consolidating schools.  A great idea for leveling the playing field and providing an equitable education for our students.
