MOULTRIE, Ga. — Two vehicle wrecks earlier this week sent two people to the hospital, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

On Tuesday, a 2001 Dodge Ram was following a 2002 Ford F150, both south-bound on Georgia Highway 33 shortly before 8 a.m. The Ford stopped to turn left onto Heard Road. The driver of the Ram told the GSP trooper that he didn’t realize the Ford had stopped, and the Ram collided with the rear of the other pickup.

The driver of the Ford, Ana Presas, 42, of Moultrie, was taken by EMS to Colquitt Regional Medical Center, the GSP said. An attempt to get her condition late Friday afternoon was unsuccessful.

The driver of the Dodge, Joseph Glass, 20, of Moultrie, was not hurt but was charged with following too closely.

Presas was charged with driving while unlicensed.

Almost 24 hours later — about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday — a bus turned left in front of a pickup on Cool Springs Road, sending the pickup truck driver to the hospital.

The 1996 International 3000 Series was traveling west on Cool Springs Road, while the 1993 Ford pickup was traveling east. The GSP said the bus driver, Charles Harper, 28, of Lenox, told the trooper he saw the pickup but thought he had time to safely make a left turn.

The pickup driver, Bobby Cummings, 55, of Sandersville, said he saw the bus turning in front of him and turned south and braked hard to try to avoid the collision.

The GSP said the truck skidded 53 feet, and the vehicles collided about 10 feet south of the south shoulder of the roadway.

Cummings was taken by EMS to Colquitt Regional Medical Center, the GSP said. His condition was not available late Friday afternoon.

Harper was charged with failure to yield while turning left, and Cummings was charged with driving while license suspended or revoked.

The GSP said the bus was carrying five adult passengers, who left  before the trooper arrived. They were apparently unhurt.
