VALDOSTA — A gun shot wound was reported in a subdivision off of Cherry Creek Road Wednesday night, said Capt. Kari Williams of the Valdosta Police Department.

The shooting appears to have been an accident, according to authorities. 

Valdosta Chief of Police Brian Childress said investigators are looking into the possibility that two teenagers were playing with guns and one of the guns accidentally discharged, striking one of the teens. 

 

Police, fire and EMS personnel gathered at a home just inside the Cherry Creek Hills neighborhood, and crime scene tape was placed across the front of the house.

 

The identity and condition of the teenager is unknown at this time. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
