Fagan leads Moultrie YMCA gymnasts

MOULTRIE — Moultrie YMCA Level 4 gymnast Allison Fagan placed first all around in the Tumblin’ in the Roses Invitational held recently at the Thomasville YMCA.

The Moultrie Y’s Levels 4 and 6 teams competed in the meet, the first of the season.

Three of MG’s Level 4 gymnasts performed for the first time in a new level of competition for AAU.

“The AAU Level 4 is closer to USA Level 5 in difficulty using the vault table and the high bar,” said Moultrie YMCA coach Pat Murphy.

Fagan turned in 32.475 all around to claim her gold medal.

She had a 9.1 on vault and 9.175 on floor, placing first in both events.

Jaycee Ellenberg was second all around with a 32.3 and scored a 9.0 on vault.

Taking third place all around was Sidney Cokely, who had a 31.7. She had the highest score on bars with an 8.7, earing her a first in that event.

The MG’s had two gymnasts competing USA Level 6 for the first time.

Susannah Harvell took first place with an all around of 31.775.

She took first place on bars with a 7.95.

Both scores were personal bests.

Also competing in Level 6 for the first time was Camille Kirkland, who placed third all around with 29.475.

Kirkland had a high score of 8.425, placing first in that event.

“This was wakeup meet for both levels and we need a lot more work on beam, so let the handstands begin,” Murphy said.

The Moultrie YMCA gymnastics team will host its annual Sunbelt Shindig on Sept. 29.
