MOULTRIE — Harper-McCall shut out Davis Insurance 6-0 in a Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department Midget League baseball game on Friday at the Magnolia Sports Complex, setting up a battle of the league’s final two unbeaten teams.

Harper-McCall’s victory raises its record to 5-0. Southwest Georgia Insurance also is 5-0. The two teams meet at 6 p.m. Friday.

Each team has another game before the Friday meeting. Harper-McCall will face 0-5 Ameris at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Southwest Georgia Insurance will play 3-2 Southwest Georgia Bank at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Bryce Giddens did his part in keeping Harper-McCall undefeated on Friday. Not only was he the winning pitcher, but he also had three hits, including a home run, in the shutout victory.

Megan May also had two hits for Harper-McCall. Daren Kent had two for Davis Insurance, now 3-3.

In Friday’s other Midget League game, Market Barbecue defeated Edwards Motors 9-7.

Andrew Eunice was the winning pitcher and received offensive support from Blake Bennett, Jim Harrison, Anthony Brumbley and Britt Jones, each of whom had two hits for Market Barbecue, now 3-2.

Josh West and Benjamin Hegwood each had two hits for Edwards Motors, 2-4.

Both of Friday night’s Farm League games went to extra innings.

Southwest Georgia Bank needed seven innings to deal Lazarus its first loss of the season by a 6-4 score.

And with Wendy’s 10-7, seven-inning victory over Custom Cabinets in Friday’s second game, Lazarus, Southwest Georgia Bank and Wendy’s all are 5-1 and are in a three-way tie atop the Farm League standings.

Cason Wells and Daniel Mobley each had three hits and Ben Shiflett and Colby Reneker each had two to lead Southwest Georgia Bank’s victory.

Dontae Barfield had two for Lazarus.

Wendy’s got three hits from Beau Dalton and Alex Pate and two each from Tristin Frazier, Austin Mercer, Gabe Mobley and Zachary Murphy in its Friday night win.

Blake Lee, Ryan Chatman and William Bell each had two hits for Custom Cabinets, 3-3.

In Friday’s Tiny Mites action, Holman Supply edged Mprints 12-11 and Southwest Georgia Bank won over Quality Employment 14-7.
