B-team, ninth-grade baseball teams fall

MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County ninth-grade baseball team was defeated by Lee County on Friday 15-6.
Calrk Coleman, Andrew Clark, Jebb Cato and Chris Phillips did the pitching for the freshmen Packers, who are now 3-4 on the season.
Phillips had two hits. Clark, Judd Cato, Jebb Cato, Corey Hancock, Michael Amore and Justin Fowler each had one hit.
The ninth-graders will meet Westover at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ike Aultman Field.
Baseball B-team splits pair of games
MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County baseball B-team’s seventh-inning rally fell short in a 12-11 loss to Lee County on Friday, but the team regrouped to defeat Bainbridge on Monday 10-4.
Against Lee County, the B-team Packers got two hits each from Bo Williams and Caleb English and one each from Cody McLean, Patrick Taylor, Michael Connell, Stephen Tyus and Justin Crawley.
Cam Fitzgerald went the first three innings on the mound and was followed by Tyus, who went two innings, and Corey Tucker and McLean, each of whom went one inning.
The Packers banged out a season-high 12 hits in the victory over Bainbridge on Monday at Ike Aultman Field.
McLean, Tucker and Blake Cato each had two. Williams, Taylor, Connell, Fitzgerald, Ben Cauthen and Austin McAlpin had the others.
Connell’s hit was a base’s loaded double that broke the game open.
McLean went the first four innings on the mound an got the win. Taylor finished up.
The B-team will take a 3-4 record into its Wednesday home game against Westover.
