Tennessee teens charged in case that led to school lockdown

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Two Tennessee teen-agers, whose abandonment of a reportedly stolen car led to a Thursday lockdown at Norman Park Elementary School, were charged with felony theft.

A Norman Park police officer noticed the car in the city and made a traffic stop. When the car came to a rest, two people jumped out and ran into the woods.

As a precaution, officials at Colquitt County Schools put the school on lockdown between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. with all exterior doors locked and students kept in their classes. The lockdown lasted less than an hour, Schools Superintendent Doug Howell told The Observer on Thursday, and students were dismissed at the normal time after police told them it was OK to do so.

After a search of several hours by officers from multiple agencies using search dogs, police found the hiding places of Jason Christopher Dillon and Dylan Michael Liner.

Dillon, 18, 4807 South Lake Highway, McDonald, Tenn., and Liner, 17, 1104 Keith Valley Road S.E., Cleveland, Tenn., were each charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property.
