MOULTRIE — A 22-year-old man died in a shooting at a Moultrie apartment complex Monday.
Police responded about 6:38 p.m. Monday to the Arts Center Apartments complex at 404 Seventh Ave. S.W., according to a statement released by Moultrie Police Chief Chad Castleberry. When they arrived, they found the deceased person.
Officers of the MPD and the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office secured the scene. Moultrie Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, in conjunction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, are actively investigating the case, Castleberry’s statement said.
The victim’s identity was not released by either Castleberry or Colquitt County Coroner Verlyn Brock.
Brock did say, however, that while he was on scene at the fatal shooting, officers heard more shots fired nearby and responded toward them, but he had no information as to what happened in the second incident.
