MOULTRIE — Three houses suffered damage Monday morning as severe weather made its way through Colquitt County. A tornado is suspected but it hasn’t been confirmed.

“We will assess tomorrow to see if it’s straight line winds or a tornado,” said Colquitt County Emergency Management Director Justin Cox.

He said there was approximately a 1/2 mile area of impact on Highway 202 South between Monroe Jackson Road and Lower Meigs Road in Colquitt County.

Two of the houses had significant damage — which means they will more or less both need new roofs, Cox said — and one house had minor damage. Two barns were destroyed. A resident was inside one of the homes when the event happened but is fine, Cox said.

“The most important thing is that there were no injuries or fatalities,” said Cox.
