Man found dead in home; police suspect homicide

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Investigators are awaiting autopsy results for a 63-year-old Moultrie man who was found dead Wednesday morning at his residence in a case police are calling a homicide.

Otis Anderson was pronounced dead at about 10 a.m. Wednesday at his 610 First Ave. N.W. residence, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which is assisting the Moultrie Police Department.

Anderson’s body was found at around 9 a.m. by a family member making a welfare check.

“The case is being treated as a homicide,” the GBI said in a news release. “Agents and Moultrie police are on scene conducting a crime scene examination currently and interviewing witnesses in the area.”

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning in Macon, said Colquitt County Deputy Coroner Jeremy Dickens, who worked the scene for the office.

Coroner Veryln Brock said that Anderson had not been shot, but said the cause of death was unknown as of Thursday afternoon.

“I hope we’ll have some results as soon as tomorrow or Monday,” he said.
