GBI probes Brooks death

QUITMAN — Local and state authorities are investigating an apparent homicide in Brooks County that took place over the weekend, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, the GBI was called out to help Quitman police, according to a GBI statement. Jasmine Davis, 30, was found shot off South Culpepper Street in Quitman. A passerby called police after finding Davis around 10:20 p.m., according to the statement.

EMTs responded and Davis was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, GBI said.

Davis’ body has been taken to the GBI crime lab in Macon for an autopsy. Anyone with knowledge of this incident should call the Quitman police at 229-263-7556 or the GBI’s Thomasville office at 229-225-4090.
