At about 5:54 an officer dispatched to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of First Street Northwest was connected with a witness who had second-hand accounts of the first shooting and was in a car that was the target in the second incident.
The witness told police that a friend trying to find her cell phone asked for her assistance. While they were riding in the friend’s Pontiac G-6 she noticed that the back window had been “shot out” and the driver was bleeding from the neck and lower leg.
The witness reported that the woman said a man shot at her car at a motel on First Avenue Southeast after he got mad at her.

At about 6:22 a.m. Sunday an officer dispatched to investigate a reported incident of battery in the 1600 block of Camilla Highway found Marquise Stubbs, who told police that she had just seen her ex-boyfriend.
The ex-boyfriend was at the location while police spoke with Stubbs and he repeatedly told her to get in the car, police said. Eventually she decided to take him home with the officer following.
But as soon as the car left the parking lot and entered the roadway Stubbs braked and got out of the car holding her lip.
The officer witnessed the man hit Stubbs, police said. After she exited the car the man drove away in her Ford Fusion. Officers tried to catch up to the car, which the driver abandoned at Third Avenue and Sixth Street Northwest, where he jumped out and escaped on foot.
The man did leave the keys in the ignition of Stubbs’ car, police said.
