DOERUN, Ga. — A Doerun man’s death on Monday was caused by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Police were dispatched at about 11 a.m. to the 121 E. Bay Ave. residence of Marvin Rudolph Paulk, 83.

A family member mowed Paulk’s lawn earlier that day, Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Chris Robinson said. Paulk asked the man to come inside after he finished, and when he did he found Paulk dead.

The relative did not hear the gunshot because of the sound of  the lawn mower engine, Robinson said.
