Deadly gunshot was self-inflicted, officials say

DOERUN, Ga. — The death of a Colquitt County man on Monday at his Highway 133 North residence was caused by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A female relative of Billy Rentz found him unresponsive in a shed behind the residence, the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office said. She called 911 for assistance.

A revolver was found in the right hand of Rentz, 76, the sheriff’s office  said.
