Plate sale

Citadel of Hope Church of God in Christ will sell chicken plates to raise funds for church-related activities on Friday, May 5, beginning at noon. Menu is fried or baked chicken, chicken dressing, collard greens, field peas with snaps, candied yams, cornbread and cake. Plates can be delivered or you can pickup at the church, 805 W. Plate sale

Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 501 Eighth St. N.W., will hold an usher plate sale 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6. Menu is grilled chicken or ribs, cabbage, macaroni and cheese, cornbread, pound cake and soda. Donations are $7 for chicken, $8 for ribs and $9 for a combo. The Rev. J.W. Greene Jr. is the pastor.

Ushers anniversary

Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 501 Eighth St. N.W., will observe its annual ushers anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 7, Guest speaker will be the Rev. Samuel Gaines of Albany. The Rev. J.W. Greene Jr. is pastor.

Kidney for Karissa

A benefit event will be held 7 to 11 p.m. May 12 at Ashburn Hill Plantation to raise money for a kidney transplant for 13-year-old Karissa Woodell. The $25 entry ticket includes two drink tickets for the bar, a concert by Just June, a barbecue buffet and entry to win a 50-quart K2 Cooler.
