TIFTON — The public is encouraged to wear blue Friday in support of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Lillie McEntyre, executive director of the Tift County Commission on Children and Youth, said this is a great way for people to join together as a community to show their commitment to keep kids safe.

According to McEntyre, individuals and organizations across Georgia will band together Friday to make a visible commitment to preventing child abuse and supporting strong families and healthy children throughout the state.
The public is asked to wear blue anywhere — to work, to school, a community event, the gym and even at home. The unified, community-wide act of wearing blue will help raise awareness that child abuse is preventable, said McEntyre.
McEntyre asks people, groups, classes and companies wearing blue to share it with the Tift County Commission on Children and Youth Facebook page and Twitter and email it to tc3y@friendlycity.net.
People can purchase a blue ribbon from the Tift County Council on Child Abuse for the Blue Ribbon Campaign during the month for $20 each.
This donation provides prevention and awareness programs for the community. Call 229-382-5172 or 229-388-1000 to order a ribbon.
The blue ribbons, which represent a commitment to join the fight against child abuse, can be displayed on the door of a business or home.
