MOULTRIE — James Ronald “Jimmy” Redding, 73, of Moultrie, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Hugh Ward officiating.
Born Dec. 13, 1942, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Walter Bernard Redding and Edna Lois Vickers Redding. He graduated from Moultrie High School in 1961 and was a member of the Packer football team. Mr. Redding was a graduate of the University of Georgia, was a tobacco grower and owner of “Sunbelt” tobacco warehouse, and was the previous owner of Bentley’s Restaurant and Lounge. He retired at the age of 71 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Billy Redding and wife Judy; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice Horne and husband Frank; and his mother-in-law, Betty Hodges Sirmans.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Sirmans Redding of Moultrie; two daughters, Heather Puckett and husband Dr. Glen Puckett of Auburn, Ala., and Traci Jones and husband Douglas of Lenox, Ga.; five grandchildren, Cooper Puckett, Lilian Puckett, Kati Jones, Tyler Jones and Taylor Mae Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley Redding and wife Beth of Moultrie; a nephew, Jody B. Redding; two great-nephews, Bryce Redding and Blake Redding and other nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Phil Sirmans of Denver, Colo., and Larry Sirmans and Carolyn of Savannah.
The family will greet friends after the service on Saturday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
