NEWTON, Ga. — Kathleen Holt Smith, 75, of Newton died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with interment in Travelers Rest Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. David Wolfe will officiate.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Holt, Greg Holt, Jason Moye, Joseph Barfield, Stephen Butler and James Holt Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Benton Holt, Steve Barfield, Wylie Roach Sr., Wylie Roach Jr., Andy Brooks, Joey Henderson, Angus Holt and Wallace Miller.

Born Sept. 1, 1939 in Newton, Ga., Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late John James “Jim” Holt and Rossie Daniels Holt. She was married for 40 years to the late David Lamar Smith Sr. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and worked as a substitute school teacher. She was a member of Travelers Rest Free Will Baptist Church.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a son, David Lamar Smith Jr.; a grandson, J. C. Smith; a sister, Mattie Smith; and three brothers, Whit Edward “Arch” Holt, Marvin Holt and Guy Holt.

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Conner and husband, Randal, of Moultrie; two sons, John M. (Cox) Smith and wife, Loree, of Sylvester and Reuben Smith and wife, Debbie, of Raiford, N.C.; two brothers, James Orie Holt Sr. and wife, Margaret, of Newton and Emmett Webster Holt and wife, Elaine, of Byron; five sisters, Effie Fulghum of Newton, Virginia B. Crosby of Newton, Eunice Cole and husband, Willie, of Madisonville, Texas, Ruby Ainsworth and husband, Bill, of Albany, and MaryAnn Yeomans and husband, Beck, of Whigham; eight grandchildren, Stephen Butler, Amanda Vick, Effie Butler, Melissa Conner, David Conner, Wacy K. Bosco, Laura Cox, Jordan Cox, and Rebecca Smith; eight great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews, who remember her love and guidance when they were children.

She is also survived by a special friend and cousin, Mary Alice Roach of Newton.

Visitation will be 6–8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.
