Talmadge Vernon Weldon, 85, of Moultrie died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Unihealth Magnolia Manor South of Moultrie.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 29, at New Elm Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Voyles and the Rev. Andy Croft officiating. Interment will follow in the New Elm Baptist Church Cemetery. Casketbearers will be his grandsons, grandsons-in-Iaw, and nephew, Randy Weldon, Michael Home, Michael Thompson, Chris Summerlin, Tim Ricks and Calvin Trammell.
Born Jan. 3, 1929, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Homer Ellis Weldon and Sallie Riggs Weldon. He was a member of New Elm Baptist Church. He built cabinets for mobile homes for several years prior to working at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Albany. He last worked at Mactavish Industries in Coolidge.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Grace Blackburn Weldon of Moultrie; two sons, Randel Weldon and wife Carol and James Weldon and wife Carol, all of Moultrie; one daughter, Diane Weldon Horne and husband Don of Doerun; grandchildren, Randy Weldon and wife Lynn of Moultrie, Michael Horne of Senoia, Ga., Kelli Horne Summerlin and husband Chris of Doerun, Kim Ricks and husband Tim, and Michael Thompson and wife Courtney, all of Moultrie; great-grandchildren, Kate and Carter Summerlin of Doerun, Nyla and Nolie Thompson, Bay and Bowen Ricks, and Alex Weldon, all of Moultrie.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at New Elm Baptist Church.
The family requests contributions be made to New Elm Baptist Church, 5226 Highway 33 North, Moultrie, Ga., 31768 or a charity of choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb Funeral Chapel.
