James Winford “J.W.” Smith

James Winford “J.W.” Smith, 82, of Moultrie, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Unihealth of Marietta.

Funeral services, with military honors, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Voyles officiating. Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

Born Oct. 22, 1931, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Jim Smith and Daisy Marie Pate Smith. He was a Korean War Army veteran and was a retired truck driver with Watkins Motor Lines.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jody Smith.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Crosby and Gordan Crosby; two daughters of his heart, Patsy Johnson and Linda Hill, both of Cottonwood, Ariz.; five brothers, Earl Smith and wife Linda of Smyrna, M.C. Smith of Marietta, Charles Smith and wife Jo of Alma, Ga., Larry Smith and wife Peggy of Tallahassee and Troy Smith and wife Margaret of Wedowee, Ala.; and one sister, Thelma Hancock of Smyrna.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
