Colquitt Regional Medical Center announced this week that three new physicians have signed on to join its Medical Staff in the coming months upon completion of their training or obligations.
Dr. Cheau Williams will join as early as January.
Williams completed a fellowship in urogynecology at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center, an affiliate of Wayne State School of Medicine, in Dearborn, Mich. He completed an ob-gyn residency at Tri-Health Good Samaritan, an affiliate of the University of Cincinnati, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in New Brunswick, N.J., and holds a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, Tenn.
He is married to ob-gyn Dr. Betty Koukis and is the father of their two children, Naya and Niko.
Next summer, the hospital expects the arrival of Dr. Pavan Manchikalapati (Pavan).
Pavan is a third year fellow in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an internship in internal medicine at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. He received a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S) from the University of Health Sciences/Guntur Medical College of India.
Pavan is married to Dr. Gayatri Kuraganti, internal medicine, who is currently in conversation with CRMC’s hospitalist group.
The third physician set to join the staff, expected in summer of 2014, is Dr. Jared Toman, orthopedic surgeon.
Toman is a major in the United States Air Force and will complete his military obligation before joining Colquitt Regional Medical Center. He is stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., and currently is under deployment to Bethesda, Md. He received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. He completed an internship in general surgery at Beth-Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Mass., and a residency in orthopedic surgery at Boston University Medical Center in Boston, Mass.
He and his wife, Rebecca, and daughter plan to move to Moultrie after he completes his military obligation.
“We are excited about our growing medical staff and the expansion of specialties in our region,” Colquitt Regional Medical Center CEO Jim Matney stated. “Dr. Williams will be an addition to our obstetrics and gynecology staff. He has a subspecialty in urogynecology. Dr. Pavan, gastroenterologist, specializes in endoscopic ultrasounds as well as hepatology and the digestive system. Dr. Toman has training in sports medicine and brings additional skills to our superb orthopedic team of physicians we have now.”
“We are positioning the community where citizens will be able to continue to receive top medical care in Colquitt County. We pride ourselves in providing the latest, most advanced technology with a caring touch,” Matney stated.
The hospital already announced three family practice physicians scheduled to join The Kirk Clinic in 2013: Dr. Uzoma Ndukwe, wife of hospitalists Dr. Ndubuisi Ndukwe; Dr. Candice Walker; and Dr. Woodwin Weeks. Dr. Kent Posey, a neurologist, will join the medical staff in 2014.
