SGB defeats Edwards Motors

MOULTRIE – Southwest Georgia Bank remained in the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department’s Midget League baseball race with an 8-5 victory over Edwards Motors on Thursday at the Magnolia Sports Complex.
Corey Moore was the winning pitcher and had two hits and Andrew Carlton and Skyler Lindsey also chipped in a pair of hits as Southwest Georgia Bank raised its record to 5-2.
Mitchell Hawes and Drew Marchant each had two hits for Edwards Motors, which falls to 3-5.
In Thursday’s other Midget League game scheduled for Thursday, Ameris forfeited to Market Barbecue. The win also gives Market a 5-2 record.
In Thursday’s Pony League action, Russ DeMott hit two home runs and got the win on the mound as VFW routed Ameris 12-0.
Ryan Sherling had three hits and Jonathan Cauthen had two as VFW raised it record to 7-0. Ameris is 2-4.
In Thursday’s other Pony League game, Quality Employment defeated winless Southwest Georgia Bank 13-7.
Lejerin Peacock had two hits and was the winning pitcher. Matt Lindsey, Mark Lindsey, Beau Weathers and Alex Tillman also had two hits for Quality Employment, 2-4. Amel Magwood had two hits for Southwest Georgia Bank, 0-6.
Southwest Georgia Bank raised its Farm League record to 7-1 with a 7-0 victory over Zaxby’s on Thursday.
Cason Wells, Daniel Mobley, Colby Reneker and Warren Funderburk each had two hits for Southwest Georgia Bank.
Hunter Hancock had two hits for Zaxby’s, 5-3.
Lazarus got two hits each from Mack Hathcock, John Gray and Braden Flinchum in its 12-1 Farm League victory over Farm Bureau on Thursday.
Jared Howard had two hits for Farm Bureau, 3-5. Lazarus is 6-2.
Matthew McCrae and Ryan Chatman led Custom Cabinets to a 10-5 Farm League victory over Random Design on Thursday with three base hits.
Oshay Williams, Matt Wilkerson and T.J. Robertson each had two hits for Custom Cabinets, 5-3.
Andy Bush, Caleb Jarosh, Jim Waldrop, Lyman Hinson and Cody Jenkins each had two for Random Design, 0-8.
In Thursday’s Tiny Mite action, Rocky’s blasted Pizza Inn 20-2 and Quality Employment defeated Holman Supply 7-2.
