Shirley L. Goble

LAKE PARK — Shirley L. Goble, 69, of Lake Park died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Morningside Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Born April 20, 1936, in Brooks County, she was the daughter of Lillian Morris and lived in Lowndes County since 1966. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and loved going to church.

Survivors include her husband, Lamar R. Goble of Lake Park; her children and their spouses, Steve and Dianne Goble of Orlando, Fla., Kaye and Lamar White of Valdosta, Keith and Tara Goble of Valdosta and Tammie and Gilbert Vaquerano of Valdosta; her grandchildren, Nicki Goble, Stephanie Carter, Jennifer Goble, Ryan Goble, Kyle White, Morgan Goble, Kalin Goble, Jessica Vaquerano, Justin (Valerie) Miles and Zack Miles; three great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dallas and Willene Hall of Lake Park, Charles and Diane Hall of Berlin and Harry and Debra Hall of Arcadia, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Goble will lie in state at the church of one hour prior to the services.

Catherine “Kay” Dunham Neuhauser

PELHAM — Catherine “Kay” Dunham Neuhauser, 85, of Pelham died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Archbold Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Moultrie with Father Charles M. Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens of Pelham.

Born Jan. 1, 1921, in New York City, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late George Robert Dunham and the late Catherine Beitz Dunham. She was the owner and operator of the Major Pelham Hotel and a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church of Moultrie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Neuhauser Jr., and a son Jess B. “Jay” Neuhauser.

Survivors include her children, Marline Neuhauser Elkins of Marietta and George Robert Neuhauser of Atlanta; a sister, Margaret Ursula Dunham of Pelham; three grandchildren, Kevin Elkins and Elizabeth Elkins Ellis, both of Marietta, and Jess Benjamin Neuhauser of Atlanta; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Ashley Erin Elkins of Marietta.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

James Clyde “J.C.” Jones

DOERUN — James Clyde “J.C.” Jones, 86, of Doerun died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Beulah Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles R. Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at Dunk Smith Cemetery in Doerun. Wayne Daniels, Johnny Bowles, Danny Jackson, Randolph Williams, Stacy Fambright, Willie Summerlin and Lonnie Bronner will serve as casketbearers.

Born Jan. 1, 1920, in Greensboro, Ga., Mr. Jones was the son of the late Jeff Williams and the late Luceail Jones Williams. He was a truck driver and was a member of of Beulah Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Sonny Jones; and a daughter, Blondell Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Jones of Doerun; four sons, Lonzie Jones and wife Cherry, Lewis Graham and wife Mara, Willie Graham and wife Nancy and Richard Graham and wife Cassandra; two daughters, Reba Walker and her late husband, Earl, and Gladys James and husband Larry; and 29 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Ethel Lee Cook Solomon

FREDRICKSBURG, Texas — Ethel Lee Cook Solomon, 94, of Fredricksburg, Texas, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, in Fredricksburg.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Salem Baptist Church in Pavo with the Rev. Marshall Dixon officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Church Cemetery. Grandsons and great-grandsons of Mrs. Solomon will serve as casketbearers.

Born Oct. 22, 1911, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Solomon was the daughter of the late Hattie Isom Cook and the late Lewis H. Cook. She was a homemaker and was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Pavo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lee Solomon; a son, Alonzo D. Milam; two brothers, L.H. Cook Jr. and Charles Cook; and a sister, Gwendolyn Cook.

Survivors include two sons, Lee Milam Jr. and wife Laura of Fredricksburg, Texas, and Charles E. Milam and wife Gerlinde of Germany; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Milam of Pavo; four brothers, Howard Cook of Okeechobee, Fla., Ray Cook and Jack Cook, both of Moultrie, and Turner Cook of California; two sisters, Blanche Greenawalt of Moultrie and Betty Stumpe of Melbourne, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Solomon will lie in state at Salem Baptist Church in Pavo Saturday, Jan. 21, from 1 p.m. to the funeral hour.

Bonita S. Thomas

ALBANY — Bonita S. Thomas, 43, of Albany died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Luke Strong and Son Mortuary.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Thomas of Albany; a son, Rashad Sharpe; her mother, Lula Pearl Baten; her father, Lewis Stokes; her stepmother, Johnsalene Stokes; eight brothers, Gregory Bernard Sharpe and wife Tina, Stephon Sharpe, Russell Sharpe and wife Benita, Fritz Stokes and wife Sharon, Romey Stokes and wife Jeanette, Reginald Stokes and wife Thessie, Willie Stokes and William Baker; five sisters, Carla Sharpe, Faye Davis and husband Y.J., Jackie Carr and husband Willie, Jessica Stokes and Jenzer Stokes; three in-laws, Ginger Kessee and husband Climmon, Elgin Thomas and wife Cynthia and James Thomas and wife Monzie; a special friend, Edith Fuller; and a host of other family and friends.
