Tech. Sgt. William C. (Bill) Howerton
PAVO — Retired U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. William C. (Bill) Howerton, 83, of Pavo died May 8, 2006, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie.
The funeral service will be Thursday 10 a.m. at Kimbrell-Stern with the Rev. Russell Anglin officiating. Entombment will follow in Crown Hill Mausoleum with full military honors.
He was a native of Abbeville, Ala., and was of the Baptist faith. At age 75, he married his love of 41 years and moved to Pavo in 2001. He was a former resident of Albany for 38 years and was retired from the United States Air Force with 24 years of service, serving during World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Libby Howerton of Pavo; stepdaughters, Leciena Stephens of Pavo and Libby Diana Riddle of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Renee Stephens and Abby Riddle; great-grandchild, Mallory Trull; brothers, Thomas J. Howerton and his wife Pauline of Navarre, Fla., and Edward A. Howerton and his wife Patricia of Albany, Ga.; sisters, Mary Smith of Albany, Ga., Lillie Rose Cooper of Lexington, S.C., and Betty Jean Stein of Yuma, Ariz.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern and will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Howerton, 509 Champion Ave., Albany, Ga. 31705.

ALBANY, Ga. — Charles Brooks, 68, of Moultrie died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

Ronald Ira Bell
DOERUN — Ronald Ira Bell, 68, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at his residence.
Graveside rites will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at Doerun Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating.
Born Aug. 26, 1937, in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Irma Jackson Bell and the late Clarence Lee Bell. He was a farmer and a member of Rose of Sharon Church.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Yvonne Snipes.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Darlene Thomas Bell of Doerun; sons, Samuel Ira Bell and wife Lori of Doerun, Tim Bell and wife Dena of Carrolton, Ga., Andrew Bell of Doerun, Jodie Bell and wife Shawnie of Canton, Ga., Ron Bell and Kathy of Moultrie, Jeff Bell and wife Michelle of Key West, Fla., and Dave Bell of Iowa; daughters, Jamie Caudill of Doerun, Michelle Bell and husband Jeff of Key West, Fla., and Brandi McCoy and husband Josh of Albany, Ga.; brothers, Oswald Bell and wife Patti of Moultrie and Charles Bell and wife Willie Jo of Doerun; sisters, Myrna Bennett and husband Bobby of Moultrie, Betty Jo King of Nebraska and Margie Glenn and husband Bobby of Keystone Heights, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Bobby Ray Jackson
DOERUN — Bobby Ray Jackson, 61, died Monday, May 8, 2006, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. David Benton officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with Ray Battles, Chad Harrell, Darrell Bozeman, Brian Phillips, Heath Braswell and Tim Bozeman serving as pallbearers.
Born Jan. 27, 1945, in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Pauline Hancock Jackson and the late William Ray Jackson and he was also a farmer and worked for Doerun Gin Company.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Jackson, and sisters, Gail Jackson and Patricia Jackson.
Survivors include sons, Michael Ray Jackson of Moultrie, Terry Joe Jackson and wife Belinda of Moultrie and Bobby Andrew Jackson and wife Angela of Doerun; brothers, Donald Jackson of Moultrie, Charlie Jackson of Cordele, Ga., and Wayne Jackson of Sasser, Ga.; sisters, Kay Dodson and Margie Yeomans, both of Moultrie; and four grandchildren, Tiffany Jackson, Candy Jackson, Troy Jackson and Alicia Jackson.
Visitation will be tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Lucy Brown Barata, 75, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Virginia Beach, Va.

Sgt. Jimmie Dewey Morris Sr.
MOULTRIE — Sgt. Jimmie Dewey Morris Sr., 63, died Monday, May 8, 2006, at Brownwood Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 11, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with full military honors. The Rev. Perry Lamey will officiate and burial will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
Born Aug. 26, 1942, in Turner County, Ga., he was the son of the late Othell Rooks Morris and the late Edwin Dewey Morris. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Pitts Morris, and a grandchild, Richard Jasper Thompson III.
Survivors include his sons, Tony D. Morris, Donnie L. Morris and Jimmie Dewey Morris Jr., all of Moultrie; a daughter, Jacqueline Thompson of Moultrie; two grandchildren, Richawn Scott and husband James of Moultrie and Anthony J. Thompson of Moultrie; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Scott, Tayler Scott, Breana Green, Alexis Thompson and Ricky Jaden Thompson.
