Ora Tillman Walden
MOULTRIE — Ora Tillman Walden, 87, of Moultrie, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at her residence.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at China Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. John O’Neal and Ricky Griner officiating. Burial will be in China Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lance Walden, Nick Norman, Alan Tillman, Eric Tillman, Don Tillman and Wyman Norman Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Howell, Jack Lanier, John Bass, Wayne Tillman, Dean Tillman and Jerry Tillman.
Born April 8, 1914, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Walden was the daughter of the late Hattie Williams Tillman and Josh Tillman. She was a homemaker and a member of China Grove Baptist Church for 71 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Mathis Walden; a son, Herman J. Walden; brothers, Odis, N.J. and Edward Tillman; and a sister, Flora Mae Tillman Young.
Survivors include a son, O.J. Walden of Moultrie; a daughter, Margaret W. Henson and husband Jim of Norman Park; a brother, Elbert Tillman of Destin, Fla.; a sister, Cora T. Norman of Moultrie; three grandchildren, Lance Walden, Zane Walden and Michelle Henson Gardner; and four great-grandchildren, Michael Walden, Matthew Walden, Kolby Walden and Trace Godley.

James Edwin Baell
MOULTRIE — James Edwin Baell, 78, of Moultrie died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at his residence.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 17, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Eubanks, the Rev. Ronnie Wills and Mr. Arthur Sonny Richter officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Barber, Jack Short, Eugene Perryman, Lloyd Smith, Edwin Hortman and Danny Alderman. Honorary pallbearers will be the present and past employees of Baell Mercantile.
Born Sept. 15, 1923, in Decatur County, Mr. Baell was the son of the late Jesse James Baell and Tabitha Elizabeth Spooner Baell. He was the owner of Baell Mercantile and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a Marine veteran of World War II.
Mr. Baell was a graduate of Moultrie High School and the Citadel. He was a member of Moultie High School Band and Citadel Band. Mr. Baell was the second in command in the Marine detachment of the USS Little Rock.
In the spring of 1946, Mr. Baell returned to Moultrie and joined the family business, which was established on Jan. 2, 1923.
Mr. Baell was a supporter of youth activities, sponsor of “The Home Improvement Award” given annually by the F.F.A. and supporter of all high school athletic events. He was also past president of The Southerm Hardware Association.
Survivors include his wife, Marolyn Rowland Baell of Moultrie; a son, James R. “Bo” Baell and wife LesLee of Moultrie; daughters, Lynn B. McCoy and husband D.S. “Buddy” and Lou Beth B. Parker and husband Glenn, all of Moultrie; a brother, Johnny Spooner and wife Ethel Claire of Moultrie; sisters, Betty Baell of Modoc, S.C., Dorothy B. Cox and husband Jerry of Moultrie, and Sherry McLeod and husband John of Leesburg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Debbie Goss, Todd Parker, Lara Littleton, Stephanie Stanfill, Anna Miller, Brad Baell, Donna Michels, Kristi McCoy, Mikki Benford, Brian Baell and Stan McCoy; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.

Leon Otis Powell
SUMNER — Leon Otis Powell, 85, of Sumner died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Cabaniss officiating. Burial will be in Wright’s Chapel Cemete
ry. Pallbearers will be Delton Powell Jr., J.W. Hurst, J.B. Paulk, Wade Hurst, Charles “Buddy” Hartsfield and Ronnie Hurst.
Born June 16, 1916, in Worth County, Mr. Powell was the son of the late Mamie and Dennis Powell. He was a retired farmer and a Worth County school bus driver. He was a member of Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Kathryn Powell.
Survivors include a son, Curtis Powell and wife Freeda of Sumner; a sister, Georgia Mae Barlow of Norman Park; two grandchildren, Steve Powell and wife Mona and Kathy Cross and husband Glen, all of Sumner; four great-grandchildren, Heath Cross and wife Kellie, Nick Powell and wife Becky, Kayla Weaver and husband Tom, and Kevin Cross; and a great-great-grandchild, Taylor Cross.
The body will be taken to Mr. Powell’s residence on Friday where friends will be received until 3 p.m. on Saturday.

MOULTRIE — Mrs. Nellie Monts, 78, 409 Ninth St. S.W., died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Luke Strong and Son Mortuary.
