MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County boys golf team shot a 308 to finish third in Monday’s Viking Classic held at windy Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
Lowndes shot a 300 to win its own tournament.
Carrollton was second, two shots back, in the 19-team field.
Tift County was ninth with a 318 and Valdosta was 18th with a 408.
Lowndes also entered two other teams, one of which finished 10th with a 324. The other shot 334, good for 14th place.
The Packers were led by freshman Cavin Hall and sophomore Leighton Hood, each of who shot a 76.
Colquitt also counted a pair of 78s from sophomores Reese Hood and Jacob Rowell.
Michael Hall shot 80 and Dawson Lane turned in an 85.
Coach Andrew Eunice said the wind was “blowing insane, which made the course tough and scores high.”
He added that his team “fought and played well for the most part.”
Cavin Hall finished in the top 10 individually for the third straight tournament and Leighton Hood was in the top 10 for the second straight time.
The Packers will play next on Saturday in the Parkview Classic at Stone Mountain Golf Club.
