Anxiety support group to begin Tuesday evening

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Anxiety is one of the most common mental illnesses in America, according to a study by the Anxiety and Depression Association of America. More than 40 million people are affected by anxiety each year.

The Rev. Tammie D. Croft was in a major car accident in 1987 and it left her traumatized to the point where she would suffer anxiety attacks.

Instead of letting anxiety defeat her she decided to let her life lessons empower those who are going through the same thing.

Croft has written four books about dealing with anxiety. Her most recent book, “Panic Attacks: The Ugly Truth,” comes with a workbook that can be used at workshops. She said this book is her most successful and has garnered the best reception among professionals and anxiety victims.

Croft’s newest project is bringing an anxiety support group to the Colquitt County area, which is something she has wanted to do for quite some time.

“It’s always been in my heart to help others,” said Croft. “This has been in the works around three to four years. I decided to do the support group for those who can’t afford the anxiety workshops. It’s free. Anybody is welcome, they can come and talk because it’s a safe haven.”

The Anxiety Support Group will meet the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m at The Well church, 1319 S. Main St.

The first meeting will take place Nov. 6. If you are interested in joining the Colquitt County Anxiety Support Group, please call 229-529-0574.

“I want this to encourage everyone,” said Croft. “I want to encourage people that anxiety is a spiritual attack and I want people to see the spiritual side of it and hope that it guides them on a better path.”
