Woodhaven donates new mattresses to fire department

THOMASVILLE — Thomas County firefighters soon will be able to sleep comfortably at the station after an exhaustive day of responding to calls.

Woodhaven Industries donated 14 new mattresses and box springs to Thomas County Fire/Rescue on Wednesday.

The new mattresses will be split up between the county’s three fire and rescue stations.

Chris Cooper, a firefighter for three years, brought the issues of the former mattresses, which were between five and seven years old, to light.

“The ones on South Pinetree (station) you can feel the springs in,” Copper said.

Copper also noted the mattresses often caused backaches.

Woodhaven operations manager Terry Griggs said Woodhaven donates to different entities each year.
