Parker Hardigree continues to be one of the top divers for SMU and was honored recently as the American Athletic Conference’s Diver of the Week.

Hardigree won on the 3-meter springboard with a career-best, NCAA Zone qualifying score of 362.85 in the meet against North Texas and LSU.

He was also second on 1-meter at the event, also posting a career mark of 326.45.

The 2019 AAC Diver of the Year has posted Zone qualifying marks on both 1- and 3-meter springboards this season and will compete at the Zone D Diving Championships that will be held at SMU in March.

Hardigree’s Moss Farms teammate Johanna Holloway was third on 1-meter and second on 3-meter for the SMU women in the event.

The Mustangs are back in action Nov. 21-23 for the SMU Invitational.

Louisville freshman Sky Geovanni was second on 1-meter with a score of 335.85 and was second on 3-meter with a 306.90 in home meet against Notre Dame on Nov. 1.

Purdue’s Maggie Merriman was fourth on 3-meter and sixth on 1-meter in a meet against Notre Dame on Oct. 25.

University Kentucky junior diver Chase Lane was fifth on both springboards in an Oct. 25 meet at Texas.

Of this and that:

• Za’Nautica Downs scored nine points and 32 points in the first two games of the season for No. 8-ranked Florida Southwestern women’s basketball team.

Her former Lady Packers teammate Diamond Hall scored three points in Alcorn State’s 57-51 season-opening loss at Memphis.

Both are sophomores this season.

• Lexie McDaniel scored a game-tying goal for the Thomas University women’s soccer team in its recent 2-1 home victory over Johnson and Wales University.

It was McDaniel’s second goal of the season.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday in Miami Shores, Fla., in the quarterfinals of the Sun Conference’s postseason tournament.

• Nic Jarvis helped lead the Reinhardt College wrestling team to a season-opening 45-0 victory over Division II Emmanuel.

The freshman from Colquitt County won by a 6-0 fall over the Lions’ Gavin London in a 285-pound bout.

On Saturday, Reinhardt will compete in the Ohio Collegiate Open in Cleveland, Ohio.

Reinhardt is an NAIA program located in Waleska, Ga.

• Ty Lee had two pass receptions for seven yards in Middle Tennessee State’s 34-20 loss at Charlotte last week and now has at least one catch in 49 straight games.

The streak is the longest in the country among active players.

Lee has 30 catches for 259 yards and one touchdown this season.

• In Arkansas’ 54-24 loss to Mississippi State last week, defensive tackle T.J. Smith was credited with one solo tackle, one assisted tackle and a half-tackle for loss.

The 2-7 Razorbacks will be home to face Western Kentucky on Saturday.

• Four former Packers got playing time last Saturday when Tennessee defeated UAB 30-7.

Shawn Shamburger started for the Volunteers and had two solo tackles, including one for a loss, and one assisted tackle.

Jay Blakely had two assisted tackles and JJ Peterson had two solos and one assisted tackle for the Vols, who will travel to Kentucky on Saturday.

Freshman Rashard Revels also was on the field for the Blazers. Will Rykard also plays for UAB, but did not participate on Saturday.

• Lenoir-Rhyne is 9-0 after its 20-13 victory over No. 12 Wingate last week. With the victory, the Bears, ranked No. 7 in Division II, clinched a share of the South Atlantic Conference championship.

Ian Brinson continues to start at right tackle for the Bears.

Landon Scott started at safety and had two solo tackles and two assisted tackles, including a half-tackle for a loss.

The Bears will be home to face UNC-Pembroke on Saturday.

• Tory Ponder caught a 25-yard touchdown pass to give Tusculum a 10-7 lead in the second quarter and help lead the Pioneers to a 32-14 victory over Catawba.

Ponder, who started at wide receiver, finished the game with two catches for 30 yards.

Now 4-5, Tusculum will be home to face Mars Hill on Saturday.

• Tirise Barge had four solo tackles including three for losses in Tulane’s 38-26 Homecoming victory over Tulsa.

Tulane, which broke a two-game losing streak with the win over Tulsa, will take a 6-3 record into its Nov. 16 game at Temple.

• Georgia Southern raised its record to 5-3 after a 24-21 victory over previously unbeaten Appalachian State.

Ty Phillips started at nose tackle for the Eagles and had two solo tackles and one assist.

Southern will be at Troy on Saturday.

Kaleb Dawson got some playing time for the Mountaineers, who will take a 7-1 record into their game at South Carolina on Saturday.

• Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will play Northwest Mississippi Community College for the MACJC championship on Saturday after defeating two-time defending national champion East Mississippi 31-7.

Brian Merritt had two solo tackles, including one for a loss, and two assisted tackles for Gulf Coast.

• Also seeing playing time last Saturday were Auburn’s John Samuel Shenker and Shorter’s Noah Hightower.
