Traffic to start using roundabout on Wednesday

Traffic will shift on Wednesday and will have access to a portion of the new U.S. 319 Business/State Route 33 roundabout.

The project is not complete, but motorists approaching from First Street Northeast, U.S. 319 BU/SR 33 (North Main Street) and Sylvester Highway will be able to access all major roads from the roundabout.

Drivers are asked to slow down as they approach the work zone and follow the layout of construction barrels that will lead them to the roundabout.

The $2.4 million roundabout will improve traffic flow and enhance safety, the Georgia Department of Transportation said in announcing the traffic shift. Construction is scheduled to be finished this summer.
