Accidental shooting leaves teen dead in Tifton

TIFTON — Authorities are investigating an accidental shooting that left a teenager in Tifton dead.
Around 10:20 p.m. Saturday, police headed to the 100 block of Central Avenue South on a report of a gunshot victim, a statement from the Tifton Police Department said.
The victim — a 16-year-old male — was rushed by EMTs to Tift Regional Medical Center but died from his injuries.
An investigation showed the teen was shot by an accidental discharge from a gun held by a 5-year-old child, police said. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist with the investigation. No charges have been filed.
