2nd woman charged in fight that led to baby’s death
MOULTRIE, Ga. — The second of two women involved in a fight that led to the death of a baby surrendered to authorities Sunday at the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office.
Terra Shanquelle Brown, 30, has been booked into the Colquitt County Jail on charges of felony murder in the second degree, cruelty to children in the second degree and affray, according to Lt. Freddie Williams of the Moultrie Police Department.
Police said Brown was involved in a fight July 19 with Karen Lashun Harrison, 26, who was holding her 3-month-old baby at the time. Harrison dropped the child, police said, and he hit the pavement.
The baby died the following day at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Police said Harrison told them a family friend had dropped the child, but a nearby store’s security camera recorded the fight, including the baby’s fall.
Harrison was charged with felony murder and other charges soon after the child died.
The family friend, Carneata Clark, 26, who police said supported the mother’s story, was also charged with false statements and writings and with obstruction of an officer.
