17-year-old burglary suspect surrenders

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A teen-age burglary suspect sought by police was in jail on Tuesday after he turned himself in Monday afternoon.

Levetrius Marquette Waters, 17, surrendered to police at the Colquitt County Jail at about 5 p.m.

Waters was a suspect in one Norman Park burglary and now has been charged with additional burglaries.

He is accused of stealing clothing, jewelry, cash and a black semi-automatic pistol on May 14 from a residence in the 200 block of Selena Drive.

A 2016 Toyota Tacoma also was taken from that location, but it was recovered last week after it was found abandoned behind Regency Village Drive.

“He has been charged in two more burglaries that happened in Norman Park last Monday,” Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ronald Jordan said.

One of the additional burglaries is at the residence of Teresa Carrichi in the 300 block of Serena Drive in Norman Park. Carrichi reported that an air compressor was taken from the carport and several items were taken from inside the residence.

A cinder block was used to break a rear door window of the residence, police said.

The estimated value of the stolen property is $2,200.

“We recovered the air compressor and some other property,” Jordan said.

The other burglary was reported by Jose Raya in the 100 block of Dennis Powell Lane. In all, $1,200 worth of property was reported stolen.

Waters is now charged with three counts of burglary, possession of handgun by a person under 18, simple battery and theft by taking.

On Monday night, Waters and another inmate got into a fight, Jordan said, so additional charges are pending.
