Teen arrested in shooting of three people

VALDOSTA – A teen has been arrested in connection with the shooting of three people this week on Jo Ree Drive, according to Valdosta police.

Calvin McKeithen, 19, of Valdosta is charged with aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to the Valdosta Police Department.

Authorities obtained arrest warrants for McKeithen Tuesday, police said. With the Federal Bureau of Investigation Southwest Georgia Gang Task Force, Valdosta police officers found and arrested him, according to the VPD.

He was taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

At 12:34 a.m. Monday, Valdosta police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Jo Ree Drive in reference to shots being fired at a residence, according to a police report.

Officers found a car with three people – one adult male and two adult females – inside, all suffering from gunshot wounds; none of the wounds were life-threatening, police reported.

The suspect and the male occupant of the car “had been in an ongoing altercation,” police reported.

One person had been released from the hospital and two others were still undergoing treatment late Monday night, police said.

“This investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending. If anyone has any information in reference this case, please call the Valdosta Police Department at (229) 242-2606,” Interim Police Chief Leslie Manahan said in a statement.
