LAKE CITY, Fla. — The United Way of Suwannee Valley announced Jennifer Anchors has assumed the position of executive director, effective Oct. 1.
Anchors comes to United Way after serving as executive director of Children’s Home Society of Florida Mid Florida Division for 15 years. She also coordinated and executed solutions for day-to-day business, financial, staffing, fundraising and administrative needs and challenges.
Children’s Home Society has been an affiliated agency of United Way of Suwannee Valley since the local United Way was established in 1968. The agency has remained an active participant with the United Way.
Anchors earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and sociology at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa., and her Master of Social Work at Barry University School of Social Work in Miami.
Anchors filled the executive director position upon the retirement of Rita Dopp, who had served as the executive director since 1999.
An Executive Search Committee actively worked to ensure a broad range of candidates before conducting interviews and making a final hiring decision approved by the full United Way Board of Directors.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to work on behalf of the community in the capacity of the executive director of United Way and work with the many volunteers who, indeed, comprise the United Way, which is a volunteer driven organization,” said Anchors.
