Grady JDA talks finance options for spec building
CAIRO — Grady County Joint Development Authority officials discussed the possible funding for a way to attract a new business to the Syrup City last Wednesday.
Chairman Chuck Stafford discussed two finance options for erecting a new spec building.
The first was an up to $500,000 finance option with a zero percent interest rate, if the building is constructed in five years, Stafford said.
The second was a loan with a 3 percent interest rate.
“I’m pursuing that also,” Stafford said.
Vice-Chairman Robbie Burns said a spec building could be built but would be finished once a tenant is chosen.
No official action was taken toward the funding options.
JDA officials broached the idea of a new spec building at the November monthly meeting.
In other business, the Grady County Joint Development Authority:
• Re-elected Stafford and Burns as chairman and vice-chairman respectively.
• Reviewed and approved financials for December 2017.
• Heard updates for Milestone Industrial Park, including: Pioneer in the final stages of new facility, Classic Consoles progressing with new facility, and a $5,460 bid from Southern Land Services for cleaning approximately 13 acres in front of PFG on Hall Road.
