Southern Bodies opens new location

TIFTON — Southern Bodies held a grand opening at their new location on Dec. 10.

The gym, which used to be located on Main Street downtown, moved to 604 W. 2nd Street.

Trisha Landers, co-owner with her husband Steve, said that the gym is a family affair. She considers her daughter Amanda Landers and her daughter and son-in-law Ashley and Joshua Self co-owners.

“I’ve got a little grandbaby that’s five,” Landers said. “She’s an owner too. She’s the actual boss.”

She said the decision to move to a new location was a leap of faith.

“I always say the good Lord looks out for me,” she said. “He presented this building to me and I just called it faith and it was handed over to me.”

She purchased the building in April and started renovations, which took months.

The gym opened at the new location on November 1.

“At our old location we had three levels,” she said. “It was split up and our classes were on the top floor. I do Silver Sneakers, which is for seniors, and it was very hard for them to get up the stairs sometimes.”

The new location is all on one level, with the classroom at the back of the building, which means no more climbing stairs.

Landers said that she was also able to expand the gym and add new and more equipment.

“This is over 14,000 square feet,” she said. “We were able to add more equipment. We were able to add our kids area. We were able to add turn in.”

The gym now has a plethora of new equipment, including more cross trainers and treadmills. Landers said that they have the ability to grow more, should they want or need to at some point.

Additionally, the gym offers personal trainers and a nutritionist.
