Severe thunderstorm risk upgraded
TIFTON — Severe thunderstorms are possible for southeast Georgia today.
Initially listed as a “Marginal Risk” by the National Weather Service, the risk was upgraded to “Slight” Wednesday morning.
On the NWS’ five point scale, Marginal is a 1 and Slight is a 2.
Storms are expected to start coming through southeast Georgia throughout the morning, strengthening around midday and continuing into the early afternoon, according to NWS.
The storms will push on across northeast Florida through the late afternoon.
Isolated tornadoes, damaging winds of 40-60 mph and hail are all possible.
Residents are advised to take caution, especially in light of the recent severe storms that went through the region in January.
