Reed Bingham State Park looks forward to camping season

ADEL, Ga. — Reed Bingham State Park is the park of choice for the Colquitt County community as it is located five miles east of Ellenton on the Colquitt-Cook county line, and last year the park won an award for Natural Resources Enhancement Award from the state Division of Parks and Historic Sites.

Currently, the park offers multiple activities for visitors. The park has more than 1,500 acres of land offering activities such as boating, birding, fishing, geocaching, hiking, miniature golf, and orienteering.

Wayne Fuller took over as park manager in 2017 and after coming off a great year in 2018 he hopes they can build from it going into the rest of 2019.

“We want to be that venue for your event, we want to take care of that birthday party, wedding, we want people to come here and have a good time and not go anywhere else,” Fuller said. “That’s what makes me so optimistic about the year because we believe we can offer an experience that will be hard to replicate.”

New things that the park has planned for 2019 include a six-piece fitness area that went live on Monday. This spring the park will be doing another lakeshore clean up. A slew of other activities will be a surprise to the public,

To keep busy during the slower, winter months, park staff has working on winter work projects, projects such as repainting the floors and interior of the group shelters and cleaning and reshaping some of the old boathouses to make sure everything is safe for the public during the upcoming camping season.

Despite the quiet season the park is open year-round. If you would like more information, it can be found on gastateparks.org/ReedBingham or by calling the park office at (229) 896-3551.
