FFA students represent Colquitt County at national convention
MOULTRIE, Ga. — Six Colquitt County FFA members have been practicing and preparing over the last few months to compete at the National FFA Convention to be held this week in Indianapolis, Ind.
Colquitt County has two proficiency finalists selected to compete this year. Garrett Harrell will compete in Agricultural Processing based off of his agricultural proficiency project working at Mobley Plant Company. Libba Johnson will compete in Veterinary Science based off of her agricultural proficency project working at Pineywoods Veterinary Clinic.
Tyler Robinson will compete in the Job Interview competition. He will have a phone call interview as well as a 15-minute interview in front of a panel of judges. Robinson will also represent the State of Georgia FFA Association as a national delegate.
The Marketing Plan team, which consists of Kaitlyn Hart, Logan Moore, and Mary Logan Tostenson, will give a 15-minute presentation and a question round consisting of general marketing terms and questions about their marketing plan/product.
Each individual has shown hard work ethic and determination over the past few months, a local FFA spokeswoman said. These competitions not only teach students communication and public speaking skills but prepare them for future careers in agriculture. Each gives an insight into how these jobs are performed on a daily basis.
“It is a tremendous honor to work with this caliber of students who have shown dedication to their chosen field,” said Colquitt County FFA advisor Adrienne Smith. “Colquitt County will be well represented by these students and I am extremely proud of their work towards achieving their goal of becoming national champions.”
