Report: Bloody scene after stabbing during fight
DALTON, Ga. — A fight between two men which included one stabbing the other resulted in a bloody scene Halloween night at the Circle K at 3608 Chatsworth Highway, according to an incident report from the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, a deputy was sent to the convenience store on a report of a possible stabbing. The deputy found Adam Curtis “laying against a sunglass display in the front of the store with blood all around him.” Curtis, 40, had a wound on his left upper arm and told the deputy he had been stabbed by Sheril Brooks. He also had a “laceration on the top of his left wrist.”
According to Capt. Paul Woods with the sheriff’s office, the men were involved “in a domestic involving a third party.”
“Curtis and Brooks agreed to meet at a location, Robinwood Circle,” Woods said. “Upon the two parties meeting, a physical altercation occurred which led to Curtis being stabbed twice.”
The report noted that Curtis was “under the influence of alcohol,” and emergency responders found an “open back knife” in Curtis’ pocket. In the parking lot of the convenience store, a 1992 Toyota Camry was found with blood “in the driver front side,” under the door handle of the driver side and on the hood. Also, there were “blood drips” from the car to the front door of the store.
Curtis was treated for his injuries and underwent a second surgery on Monday.
Brooks, 38, of 2629 Tunnel Hill Road in Tunnel Hill, was arrested on Friday in Murray County “with the assistance of U.S. Marshals Service, the Murray County Sheriff’s Office and the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office,” according to Woods.
Brooks was charged with aggravated assault and is being held in the Whitfield County jail without bond. He is scheduled for a bond hearing in Superior Court Tuesday. He was arrested in September for felony parole violation, and was arrested on drug charges and other violations in 2010 and 2016.
